Dr. Weifeng Zhang is Corporate VP at Lenovo Group and Head of the Intelligent Computing Infrastructure & Wireless Research Labs at Lenovo Research, leading large-scale heterogeneous computing and next-gen wireless communication technologies. Prior to joining Lenovo, Weifeng was the Chief Architect and VP of Software at Lightelligence Inc, responsible for system architecture, hardware software co-design, and software ecosystem to empower optical computing and interconnect technologies. Before Lightelligence, Weifeng was the Chief Scientist of Heterogeneous Computing at Alibaba Cloud Infrastructure, in charge of heterogeneous computing technologies, from AI accelerator systems, AI compiler, workload analysis & optimization, to the elastic heterogeneous accelerator pooling infrastructure for exascale computing at datacenters. In addition, he was also responsible for building the privacy-preserving computing framework for AIoT and edge devices. Weifeng was a Director of Engineering at Qualcomm, leading GPU/GPGPU compilation and optimization for Snapdragon Adreno GPUs.
Currently, Weifeng is serving as the Chair of AI Co-Design Workgroup at Open Computing Project Foundation (OCP) and as an OCP Future Technology Symposium (FTS) Program Committee. He was also a member of the Board of Directors at MLCommons™ (MLPerf™), a world-renowned AI benchmarking organization. He co-founded the HiPChips conference series and co-chaired the International Workshop of High Performance Chiplet and Interconnect Architectures (HiPChips) co-located at top architecture venues, including ISCA-2022 in New York, HPCA-2023 in Montreal, and ISCA-2023 in Orlando, respectively.
Weifeng received his PhD in Computer Science from University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and B.Sc. from Wuhan University, China.
